Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a normal state of mind that we all experience every day. You might have even experienced hypnosis if you have been caught out day dreaming! Other examples include those moments when you are just waking up or going to sleep. In fact, hypnosis is often very similar to that moment when you are just falling asleep, neither asleep nor awake. However, the feeling does vary from person to person.

Therapeutic hypnosis leaves full control with the client. Your body is asleep and your mind is awake. You will reach a relaxed state and be fully aware of what is being said and what is happening around you. You can also choose to change back into a fully awake state at any time.

Feelings during hypnosis include deep relaxation, comfort, well being, and mild drowsiness. Afterwards, you should feel energised and refreshed.

Despite the wide application of hypnosis, it is important to remember that hypnosis is not for every person and every problem. If you are seeking change, you should be sure that you want the change for yourself. Hypnosis is not mind control. Instead, it will help you keep the decisions you have made for yourself. It is also advisable that prospective clients first seek medical advice for problems that may be more serious, or could perhaps have a physical explanation. Examples include insomnia, chronic pain and depression. Further, for some problems, hypnosis is best used as a complimentary therapy. Examples include serious addictions and eating disorders.
